Project software that lets clients join the discussion
The client's questions decide what the team works on, but they usually arrive by email, away from the work. Clock Clerk lets you invite the client's people into the threads you choose, beside the project, without showing them your hours, cards or other conversations.
Thirty days of the Team plan, no card.
The client is either outside or in everything
Most project tools offer two choices. Keep the client outside, and their decisions live in email threads nobody else on the team can find. Invite them in, and they get a seat, often a paid one, with a view of boards, internal comments and sometimes hours that were never meant for them.
What a team needs is narrower: a conversation with the client, on the project, where the team can point at the task being discussed, and which is still there when someone asks in six months what was agreed.
A thread shared with the client, and nothing else
Shared threads on a project.
A project's manager opens a thread for the client and invites their people by email. Everyone on the project can read and answer it, and the thread is marked as shared, so nobody mistakes it for an internal one.
- Point at the work. Type # to reference a task and @ to bring somebody in; messages arrive live.
- Nothing quietly rewritten. An edit keeps the earlier text for your team, and a removal leaves a marker.
- Guests are never charged, however many of the client's people you invite.
Starter, Team and Enterprise
A project thread shared with a client: the client's guest asks a question and the team answers in the same thread.
What the client sees.
A guest signs in from the emailed link, with no password to set, and sees only the threads they were invited into. A task you mention appears by its name, without a link into your board.
- Not your cards, hours, invoices or other threads, and not the people on the project beyond those taking part.
- A client who already uses Clock Clerk links their guest account and finds your threads from their own sign-in.
- Removing a guest takes effect straight away, and the record of who took part is kept.
The same shared thread as the client's guest sees it: that thread and the team's replies, and nothing else of the project.
What it does not do
Shared threads are a conversation, not a client portal. These are the limits a team usually asks about.
No files or images
Messages are plain text, with no attachments. Designs, documents and screenshots are shared the way you share them today.
Guests are not emailed about new messages
Your team gets an email when a mention or direct message is unread for ten minutes; guests do not yet, and see new messages when they sign in.
No client view of boards or hours
A guest cannot be shown a board, a status report or the hours logged. Those reach a client as an invoice or a report you send.
Not during the trial
Inviting guests emails people outside your organization, so shared threads wait until a paid plan is chosen.
No calls or group chats
There is no voice or video, and direct messages are between two people.
Which plan includes it
Project threads, card threads and direct messages inside your team are on every plan. Threads shared with clients are on Starter and above.

Asked while evaluating
Can our clients join the conversation?
Yes, on any paid plan. Share a thread on a project and invite your client's people by email. They sign in from the link and see only the threads they were invited into, never your cards, hours or other threads, and they are not charged.
Who can invite a client?
The project's manager or an administrator. Each guest belongs to one client, and the invitation is filled in from that client's contact details.
Can a guest become a member of our team?
Yes. An administrator converts the guest into a user, who keeps their message history and joins the projects they were already talking about.
Keep what the client agreed beside the work
