Pay for the people who file, not the people who read
Most time trackers charge a seat for everyone who signs in, including the managers who approve and the administrators who run it, and the approvals and reports managers need often sit on a higher plan. Starter, Team and Enterprise count only the people who log hours, and Free costs nothing at all for up to three people. Reviewers, administrators and finance users who only run reports are free, because charging for them is charging for the sign-off.

Billing questions, answered plainly
Who counts as a filer?
Anyone who enters hours during your monthly billing period, which runs from the day you subscribed — once each, however many days they fill in, and whatever dates the hours are for. A person on the roster who filed nothing is not billed, and neither is anybody who only reviews, administers or reads reports.
Does a manager or administrator cost more?
No. Nobody is charged for a role. Approving, administering and reading reports are free at any head-count; a manager or administrator who also logs hours is one filer, at the same price as everyone else.
What about somebody who leaves mid-month?
Set their end date on the People tab. They are asked for the weeks they were here and no others, and they are billed for the month they last filed in.
Can we pay annually?
Starter and Team are billed monthly, by the filers in each month, so there is no annual plan and no discount for paying ahead. Enterprise is agreed annually.
Can we move between plans?
Any time. Moving down keeps every rate and cost period you entered; the reports simply stop offering the cost basis until you move back. A move down to Free is arranged with support: it keeps the rate cards but drops cost cards, contractors, invoices, task imports, export to QuickBooks, reminders, your logo and brand color, threads shared with your clients, the holiday schedule and single sign-on, and holds 3 people, 10 active projects and 20 clients; to Starter, it drops the same features except the holiday schedule, client threads and single sign-on, and caps filers at 15. Nothing you already have is removed; you simply cannot add past those limits until you move back up. Free signs in with passwords only, so an organization that signs in through Okta, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 or another identity provider switches back to passwords before it moves to Free; every paid plan keeps its sign-in.
What counts towards the Free plan's limits?
Everyone on the roster who has not left, administrators and reviewers included — Free charges nobody, so it counts everybody. Projects count until they are marked Complete, and clients until they are archived, so completing a project or archiving a client makes room. A fourth person needs Starter, which has no limit on projects or clients.
Can we start on Free without a trial?
Yes. “Start for free” opens a workspace on the Free plan straight away, with no trial clock: it never turns read-only, and it stays free for as long as you have three people, ten active projects and twenty clients or fewer. Starting a trial instead gives you thirty days of Team first.
What does the trial include?
Thirty days of the Team plan with no card. Threads shared with your clients wait until a plan is chosen, because inviting guests emails people outside your organization. Administrators get a reminder by email seven days, three days and one day before it ends, and on the last day. An administrator can extend it once, by ten days, from the app. When it ends nothing is deleted: the organization keeps everything it recorded and every screen, report and export goes on working — it simply stops accepting new hours until a plan is chosen.
How do we choose a plan?
From the trial page in the app, which shows each plan against your head-count. Choosing one asks our support team, who follow up to set it up; there is no self-serve checkout.
How is Enterprise priced?
Per filer, with a minimum, invoiced annually. It includes data residency, a named support contact and, if you run it on your own servers, the installation files, upgrades and the tools to run several organizations from one installation.
