Timesheet software that does not charge inactive users or non-filing managers
Clock Clerk is billed per filer: a person who enters hours in the month. Anyone who only approves, administers, reads reports or talks to the team is free, and so is anybody who files nothing that month.
Thirty days of the Team plan, no card.
A seat for everyone who signs in
Per-seat time trackers charge for every account, so a firm pays for the managers who approve, the administrators who run it, the finance team that reads the reports and the person on parental leave. The approval workflow those managers need often sits on a higher plan that raises the price of every seat.
Firms respond by sharing logins or keeping reviewers out of the tool, which defeats the point of an approval.
- Someone who logs timeA seat
- A manager who approves itA seat, and approvals often need a higher plan

- Someone who logs time$3–$6 / month, or $0 on Free

A manager who also logs hours counts once, at the same price as everyone else. There is no manager seat and no admin seat.
Who is counted, and when
A filer is someone who entered hours this period.
Your billing period runs monthly from the day you subscribed. Each person who enters or changes hours in it is counted once, however many days they fill in, and the month is charged at its end.
- Counted when the hours are entered, not by the dates they are for: hours for last month typed today count this period.
- A manager who also logs hours is one filer, at the same price as everyone else.
- Nobody is charged for a role. There is no manager seat, admin seat or approvals add-on.
A worked example of one billing period: the people who entered hours are billed as filers, while someone on leave, an administrator, a finance reader and a client's guest are not.
What it costs.
Free holds up to three people, everyone counted, with no card and no trial clock. Starter is $3 per filer a month for up to 15 filers. Team is $6 per filer a month with no limit. Enterprise is priced per filer with a floor, agreed annually.
- A team of 20 with 12 who log time pays for 12 on Team: $72 a month.
- On Starter, the sixteenth filer of a period is refused hours; anyone who has already filed in it is never stopped.
- Approvals are on every plan, so a firm does not move up a plan to let managers sign off.
A worked example of a bill on the Team plan: only the people who logged hours are counted, at the price per filer, and the rest of the roster is not billed.
What it does not do
The rule is simple, and its edges are worth knowing before you count on it.
Free counts everybody
Free charges nobody, so its limit of three counts every person on the roster who has not left, administrators and reviewers included.
Entering, then deleting, still counts
Someone who types hours and removes them the same day was a filer that period. Editing only a comment does not count.
Late hours count when typed
A person who catches up on last month's sheet in this period is billed in this period, even if they were billed last period too.
Monthly, in US dollars
There is no annual plan or discount for paying ahead, and no other currency. Choosing a plan is arranged with our support team rather than a checkout.
Which plan includes it
Every plan follows the same rule for who is free; the plans differ in what they include.

Asked while evaluating
Who counts as a filer?
Anyone who enters hours during your monthly billing period, which runs from the day you subscribed — once each, however many days they fill in, and whatever dates the hours are for. A person on the roster who filed nothing is not billed, and neither is anybody who only reviews, administers or reads reports.
What about somebody who leaves mid-month?
Set their end date on the People tab. They are asked for the weeks they were here and no others, and they are billed for the month they last filed in.
Are contractors and part-timers charged the same?
Yes. A filer is a filer, whether they log two hours that month or two hundred, as an employee or a contractor.
